GRUPO DE DISCUSIÓN EN LA CURTIDURÍA

Se suele pensar que tanto el diálogo como la creatividad siempre están presentes entre los artistas. Sin embargo, y por extraño que resulte, rara vez nos reunimos para hablar de nuestra obra y procesos de trabajo; y no digamos para profundizar acerca de cada proyecto en particular. Es por ello que intentaremos abrir un foro que nos permita hablar de nuestros métodos de trabajo y ver la posibilidad de colaborar entre nosotros.

A fin de lograr esto hemos convocado a un grupo de artistas de diversas disciplinas a que se reuna y presente sus carpetas. Como resultado de esto esperamos generar un ambiente propicio para la crítica, en el que tengamos la oportunidad de comparar y compartir nuestras opiniones; generando una conversación constructiva que nos ofrezca nuevos puntos de vista en torno a nuestros métodos de pensamiento en el taller. Asimismo, esperamos poder reunir a artistas en varios momentos de su carrera provenientes de diversos campos a fin de enriquecer el diálogo.

Las primeras tres semanas de reuniones serán suficientes para que nos familiaricemos con el trabajo de todos los asistentes, así como para generar un diálogo y una investigación en torno a la filosofía de cada uno. Mientras se lleven a cabo las presentaciones, también se contemplará la posibilidad de una colaboración. No hay requisitos para formar parte de este grupo y la participación es voluntaria. Existe la posibilidad de que, durante las platicas, surja el proyecto de realizar una muestra en conjunto. De ser así, también se trabajará en la realización de dicha muestra. Si durante las pláticas se llega al acuerdo de realizar una exposición en conjunto, este proyecto se llevará a cabo.

Nos reuniremos los días lunes y jueves de las 12:00 a las 14:30 hrs en La Curtiduría a partir del 21 de Julio

The notion of creativity and dialogue amongst artists exists as a given. Oddly enough it is difficult sometimes for us to come together and generate a focused discussion about our work and our methodologies. It is even harder to actually collaborate with each other on projects. This is the reason for attempting to form a Salon in which we focus on our methods of creativity and explore the possibility of collaboration

In order to do so we are inviting a group of artists of various practices to come together and share their portfolios with each other. Out of this we will generate an environment of critique, by comparing and sharing our opinions. This will hopefully generate a conversation of constructive criticism as well as provide new input about our work and our methods of thinking within the studio. The group will consist of artists at various stages in their careers. Ideally we will bring together artists from different fields in order to generate a diverse conversation. The first three weeks of these critiques should give a us the space to familiarize ourselves with each others practices and generate a dialogue and an investigation into our philosophies. While conducting our presentations we will start talking about issues of collaboration and hopefully start working together on collaborative projects. There are no requirements and participation is voluntary. If in the course of our discussions we find that we want to put a show together we will do so.

We will meet on Mondays and Thursdays from 12:00 untill 2:30 at La Curtiduria starting the 21st of July
